Our History

Cedar Rapids Ultimate was founded in 2013 with the goal of organizing the Ultimate community in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. What started as a group of friends playing Ultimate, has now grown into a community of Ultimate players of all experience levels. CRU now offers opportunities to play throughout the year, including youth leagues, tournaments, and pick-up games.

Our Board

Eric Hart

Eric Hart played his college Ultimate at Winona State University and after graduating moved to Cedar Rapids with his wife (another Ultimate player). Eric offers a decade of experience as an Ultimate player, coach and organizer. Eric’s favorite Ultimate activities include stall 9 break throws, sharing his Ultimate knowledge (even with opponents mid-game) and getting a “hack”.

Greg Zarse

Greg Zarse played his college Ultimate at Purdue University (Cookie Monsters) and moved to Cedar Rapids after graduating. He has taken a leadership role in the local Ultimate community ever since. He enjoys being the tallest person on the field a majority of the time and throwing hammers.

Jake Nelson

Jake Nelson played his college Ultimate at Western Illinois University. His analytic and forward-thinking approach to his board service keeps CRU in a financially strong position. Jake’s favorite Ultimate activities are being the fastest handler around and throwing IO flicks that break the sound barrier.
